About the Author
My name is Joseph Thomas. I am a licensed attorney in the state of Washington. I am the sole contributor to this website. My professional website is http://JoeThomas.org.
Nothing on this website is intended to be legal advice. All of the opinions and analysis expressed through this site are my own, and are responses to what I like to think of as real world hypotheticals. I take many stories out of the news where I see constitutional problems and analyze them on my own.
A little about me: I find legal jargon like ‘stipulations’ funny. Why not just use the word agreement? Seriously. On the other hand, I find internet terms of service becoming increasingly disturbing with all of the rights they presume to have over users who merely visit the website — such as LexisNexis’ Terms of Service just to read the state laws of Colorado.
When not working I like to play chess, snap photos, camp in tents at national parks, and cook southwestern and pacific northwest foods.
I grew up in Colorado, moved to Arizona for law school and now live in Washington State— I have spent most of my life out west. I enjoy the outdoors and the environment, but I like living in a big city.
My legal interests are shaped by life experiences, both personal and professional. During law school I have interned at the Arizona Justice Project, Federal Public Defender for the District of Arizona — Capital Habeas Unit, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Phoenix District Office.
